"In the cookies of life, sisters are the chocolate chips!"

I was so excited to have the opportunity to photograph my friend Kristi's daughters while I was visiting my home town of Havre, MT.  Kristi has 3 beautiful daughters ranging in age from 14 to 5.  I am always so blessed when I get to spend time with Kristi and her family.  She is such an awesome mama and always exudes patience and kindness.  I admire the way that she loves her girls and the special relationship that she has with each one.   Ryen, Adi and Tahlyn all have such fun and unique personalities.  Having two sisters of my own I can appreciate the bond and friendship that sisters share. Having a sister is a true gift, having more than one sister is a bonus!  I recently saw the quote, "In the cookies of life, sisters are the chocolate chips."  Given my love of chocolate and cookies this made me smile.  These sisters already share a special friendship that I know will continue to grow as they enter into adulthood. As for the pictures, goodness there are so many that I adore.  It was hard choosing which ones to share.  These sisters ROCKED their session!

25th Wedding Anniversary {Choosing To Love}

My oldest sister and her husband celebrate their 25 wedding anniversary today. This past Saturday they had a renewal ceremony.  It was a beautiful tribute of their love and commitment to one another.  Celebrating and bringing honor to marriage is a beautiful thing especially in a culture where we often times choose love when it is only convenient, feels good or we have something to gain.  I was honored to be a part of my sister and her husband's renewal ceremony because I am so proud of them for sticking it out in seasons that have been challenging and less than glamorous!  It has often been said and I couldn't agree more that love is CHOICE not a feeling.  The real test of love is choosing to love that person even when you don't feel like it.  To love them when you are upset or they have let you down.  To love when the honeymoon phase is gone and the stresses and realities of life are the new normal.  To love when you are disappointed.  To love when you feel like you have nothing left to give.  When we make a choice to love, love always wins.

During this beautiful ceremony I witnessed vows being spoken and commitments renewed.  I watched as their three children participated and encouraged their parents commitment to one another. The ceremony ended with my brother-in-law surprising my sister with a song, "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You."  What girl doesn't love being sung to by the man she loves!? Today I celebrate with them as they remember the promises they made before God, one another, family and friends 25 years ago.  Congratulations on 25 years of marriage and may there be many more years to come that are filled with laughter, joy and most of all love!

Little Miss Rhema {5 1/2 months}

I had the honor of photographing one of my dearest friend's little girl Rhema. Rhema's mommy Lindsey and I have been friends since 4th grade. We were in each other's weddings, pregnant at the same time (at least for two of our pregnancies), have had countless playdates with our kids, mom's night's out and eaten more cookie dough than any person should. We have been through so many seasons together and shared in many milestones. We have cried and laughed together, but what is so amazing about our friendship is the encouragement that we offer one another. We push each other to always find the arms of Jesus and pray for one another when we face challenges. Last week Lindsey posted this powerful testimony on her facebook page about precious little Rhema!

"We serve a mighty God. A God who never leaves us and His desire for our lives is healing. Our baby Rhema Jaine, was born with 3 places in her heart that leaked blood. Her pediatric cardiologist Dr. Wiggins explained to us the day after she was born. As tears streamed down my face, I had a choice to stand in faith or crumble in fear. I chose faith. We stand on the Word of God. Even in the midst of adversity, sickness, trials, and the storms of life. His love never fails. So here is our testimony of how incredible He is. Rhema is 6 months and God has completely healed our beautiful gift from His holy hand. I am wiping tears even as I write. Praise be to God. I write this to encourage anyone who is facing trials. Read the word, seek God, and share the blessings He bestows. All our love; the Casterline Family 8 strong and healthy!"

I stand in awe of God and celebrate this miracle with Lindsey and her family! In case you were curious about her closing with "the Casterline Family 8" I will clarify that Lindsey and her husband Shane have 6, yes 6 beautiful children! Add two parents and that makes 8!  They rock the large family!

Baby Kisses are the best!

Dancing Is Like Dreaming With Your Feet {Madi & Macy Recital Portraits}

I've heard the quote "Dancing is like dreaming with your feet" by Constanze. I think it suites these little dancers, Madi and Macy quite well!  These adorable ladies are great friends with my two older kiddos.  I was very excited when their mom asked me to take their dance recital portraits and equally excited to attend their dance recital with my daughter.  We made a "girl's" night out of it and enjoyed watching Madi and Macy glide across the stage!  They had spent countless hours preparing for recital night and did an amazing job!
